Where it is

Brentwood is in North Burnaby, centred on the Lougheed Highway and Willingdon Avenue, around Brentwood Town Centre and its SkyTrain station. On this page Brentwood means the town centre and the streets around it, and the figures and homes above are drawn from listings there that name it. Downtown Vancouver is about twenty minutes away by SkyTrain.

What’s changing

Brentwood has gone from a low-rise mall and light industry to Burnaby’s tallest skyline in little more than a decade, guided by the City’s Brentwood Town Centre plan. Since 2024, Burnaby’s six tallest buildings have all been here. The old Brentwood Mall has become The Amazing Brentwood, a mix of towers, shops and public plazas built in phases by Shape Properties. Next to the station, Grosvenor’s Brentwood Block will add more towers and a new City community centre, which council approved with completion planned around 2029. TransLink describes the area as one of the fastest-growing on its system, with about 9,000 more homes planned near the station.

Getting around

Brentwood Town Centre station opened on the Millennium Line in 2002. Its curved wood-and-glass design made it the line’s signature station, and upgrades finished in March 2025 added a new elevator, escalators and fare gates. Seven bus routes meet there. Gilmore station is one stop west and Holdom one stop east, Hastings Street and The Heights are a few minutes north, and Highway 1 is just south.

Everyday life

Most errands can be done on foot: groceries, restaurants and everyday services at The Amazing Brentwood and along Lougheed. Confederation Park and the shops of The Heights are a few minutes north up Willingdon, and Burnaby Mountain’s trails are a short drive east.

The homes

Most homes for sale in Brentwood are condos in concrete towers, many with views to the North Shore mountains or downtown, plus a growing number of rental buildings. Older detached houses and townhomes remain on the quieter streets around the town centre, some of them on land planned for future towers.

Schools

Brentwood is in the Burnaby School District (SD41). Alpha Secondary, on Alpha Avenue, is the nearest secondary school, and Burnaby North Secondary serves other parts of North Burnaby. With so many new homes, schools near the town centre can fill up, and catchments depend on the exact address, so check before you buy. Why catchments matter

Buying in Brentwood

  • Resales: the strata’s finances, depreciation report and bylaws, especially on rentals and pets. Strata documents, decoded
  • Presales: deposits, completion dates and assignment rules, and what’s planned on the lots around yours. Buying a presale in BC
  • Views: with towers still coming, ask what’s approved or proposed nearby before you pay for a view.

The numbers above tell you what the market is like today. A walk-through with me tells you which buildings and which views are worth it.
