Tennis has deep roots here. Two of the area’s clubs are more than a century old, and several have courts under a bubble so play doesn’t stop for the winter rain. Here are the main tennis clubs in West Vancouver and Vancouver, and how to get in, from each club’s own information.
West Vancouver
West Vancouver Tennis Club
Founded in 1925, the club marked its centennial in 2025. It’s at 821 21st Street in West Vancouver. It runs on a not-for-profit basis on land leased from the District, with five lit hard courts that are covered by a heated bubble in winter. Demand is high: at the time of writing, new waitlist applications are paused, and the club expects to reopen them in fall 2028.
Hollyburn Country Club
In the British Properties, Hollyburn has 25 tennis courts, plus squash, badminton and pickleball, alongside its pools and rinks. The club currently has a waitlist for membership. More on Hollyburn and the private clubs

Jericho Tennis Club
A members-only club on Point Grey Road, with more than 100 years of history. It offers tennis, squash, fitness and a pool. Membership information and applications are on the club’s website.
Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club
Beyond golf, Shaughnessy has eight hard courts in summer and four in its Indoor Tennis Centre in winter. It offers Term Tennis memberships, which include court booking, dining and fitness, with limited golf privileges.
The Arbutus Club
The Arbutus Club offers racquet sports along with its pools, fitness and spa. At the time of writing, new membership applications are paused, with an expression-of-interest list in their place.
Without a membership
The UBC Tennis Centre is open to the public, with indoor courts you can book without being a member. It’s a good option while you wait for a club place.
How to approach it
- Get on the list early. The tennis-focused clubs have long waits. Applying the year you arrive, or before, can save years.
- Ask about junior and family categories. Several clubs have lower-cost categories for juniors and young adults.
- Live close. Play happens when it’s easy. The West Vancouver Tennis Club is on 21st Street, and Hollyburn is in the British Properties. Ambleside guide · British Properties guide
